Amazing Spring Kings

Posted May 17th, 2019 in The Fishing Report

King salmon, also known as Chinook salmon, is a species of salmon that is highly valued for its rich, flavorful flesh and large size. They are native to the Pacific Ocean and can be found along the coasts of Alaska, Canada, and the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.

King salmon are the largest of the Pacific salmon species, with some individuals reaching up to 50 pounds or more. They have a distinctive blue-green back and silver sides, with black spots on their tail and upper body. They also have a distinctively pointed nose, which sets them apart from other types of salmon.

King salmon are prized by anglers for their fighting ability and are a popular sport fish. They are also commercially harvested for their meat, which is considered some of the finest of all salmon species. Their meat is typically rich, oily, and full of flavor, with a bright orange or reddish color.

Because of their large size and high oil content, king salmon are also a popular choice for smoking and canning. However, because they are a slow-growing species and have suffered from overfishing in some areas, they are now subject to strict regulations in order to protect their populations.

Amazing spring salmon fishing so far this year summer looks to be just as good !!!!
